It’s Amazing this Company Still Operates

Losing another deckhand today. She gave it a good 2 weeks and can’t take it anymore. The majority of the staff stays green and untrained. Anyone, who knows anything leaves, so we have servers, housekeeping and deckhands that haven’t done the job long enough to do it correctly, or safely for that matter.

Everyone was mislead in job advertisements and training. They told us that when a boat is pulled out for the season, they will transfer you to another one, or you can sign up to stay on the boat during it’s winter maintenance period. Although I don’t plan on being here that long, I still need a job in case nothing comes up for yachting. They are now telling me, my job ends November 15th with the season restarting mid January. They can’t guarantee me continued employment beyond 11/15.

Of course the thought of getting off this boat, going home and having some normalcy with my family sounds AMAZING, but I have to keep up my sea time and income flow.

Hoping and Hoping the perfect yacht job comes along soon.

  1. You are AMAZING for holding out and not quitting. WTheck are they thinking? Losing help so often should make them stop and wonder “why?” I have a feeling you will go down in history on the longest standing and bet this will come back to you in your future adventure and PAYOFF!! Way to hang in there lovey. That’s how it’s done!!

    1. What’s funny, is, they all came in to make this a career. I came in to kill time until yacht season. I keep thinking I’m gonna leave tomorrow, then tomorrow will be the day. So you’re right, they’ll all leave and I’ll end up the captain! HA HA absolutely NEVER
