Packing For Next Adventure

I’m at the Port of Miami, getting my security clearance for the river boat job. It is super weird, being at this port, and not getting on THAT boat!

I can’t afford to store my Jeep in Miami. (When I stored blue Jeeper it was $350 a month). So I’m driving my current Jeep Beastie to Tennessee to park it at a friends house. Stopping in South Carolina to see some other friends.

I have my orientation zoom meeting tomorrow to discuss travel arrangements and my boat location preference. Since I’ve been doing this, I’ve been chasing the sun. I remember at one point heading out on the yacht in shorts and a tank top. Homes were decorated for Christmas and I thought..whaaaat? Why so early? Well it was December! Being on river boats, I believe they are all Southern U.S. but still north of Miami, so it will be cold at times.

The river boat (ACL) will fly me to their training center on Monday 9/25. I’ll get my uniforms and be trained for a week. Then they will offer me a location.

I will work for them for 28 weeks (finishing in April) at which time, I will come back to Miami, go to school for Captains license. Having that credential will put me in more of an age appropriate genre, vs deckhand.

Then, hopefully I get a captains job with a great family in the Caribbean where I can also research for my bar!

Eye on the prize! Eye on the prize!
