Know your worth

Although I have the river boat job lined up, I’ve still been looking for private, yacht jobs. Working for corporate at the end, in California, left me saying, I would never work corporate again. But we do what we have to. The river boat job is doing what I have to. Sad to see so many yacht owners looking for 3 positions in one. You own a f@#$^&^ yacht, it costs money to run it. Don’t try and get one person to maintain the outside (deckhand) inside (stew) and cook 3 meals a day for you (chef).

I was a deckhand, on a 52ft boat. I know how much work that took. I could not imagine doing 2 other peoples jobs as well. The last job ad I responded to was confusing, so I sent my resume inquiring whether or not this is a triple role or are you looking for 3 separate people? He responded: “we are looking for an all around fun person who can do general work”. Then he went on to make friends and say, “I appreciate your directness in saying you are not a ‘yacht chef’ but can you cook a healthy meal? What are your interests off the water”

Margaritaville just before Beloved Jimmy passed away

Like he was trying to be friends, cause we all do whatever our “friends” need. So I replied with “paddle boarding, e-foiling, scuba diving, wakeboarding, snorkeling, hiking, off roading in my Jeep. However, I don’t see how I would have time for anything I enjoy, if one person is to be chef, stew and deckhand”

Prolly won’t get that job.
