Very strange

We had a 6.5 hour drive today. I drove most of the way. Seas were too rough so we stayed inside. YB and his GF got to play cards and enjoy each other, plus I feel useless when we are underway. Salt water flying, I can’t work outside. I’ve already done the inside. so driving, I Atleast feel productive

YB taught me how he likes the boat maintained when I first started. I am the same way. How that boat sits, Is a reflection in my work ethic, so if I’m sitting down having a glass of wine and there are spots…that, well, that just can’t happen. YB has seen my routine 500+ times, and sometimes made me feel like I need to be doing more. That was very frustrating for me years ago.

Today, they resumed their card game once we got to our marina. I started rinsing and drying the boat. 3/4 of the way through, he says “we need to have a talk”. I come inside and he says, “you only need to get the salt off, and dry the windows. Leave everything else. I don’t want you working this hard all summer. I replied “I appreciate that, but I like her to look a certain way, and I definitely cannot leave my chrome spotty. He said “then fine, leave the fiberglass, what good is it for me to tell you to go toe dinner if you work until 8pm, then don’t feel like showering and going out”

I stared at him bewildered, thinking; you usually get as much outta me as you can, whaaaats happening here? but then said, the best I can do is try and leave it, if it dries ok, then fine.

I finished according to the “new” guidelines went to my room to get ready for dinner and fretted about the spots on my boat. When I left for dinner, there was a boat full of fisherman who had just come in. Having a cold beer. One of them said, young lady, you do a good job on that boat, it looks very nice. I smiled and said thank you and walked to the Marina restaurant. From here, she looks sparkly and pretty, so for now I’m happy!
