The California Moon

The moon tonight is heavy, not full. It holds my parents meeting in high school. This moon holds their marriage, the birth of me and my siblings. This California moon holds all of my high school river parties, first loves, first heart breaks, moments I will cherish.

This Heavy California moon holds the joyous birth of each of my children, the death of loved ones, the awesome beach and lake days we have all enjoyed together.

This West coast moon is so different from the East Coast moon. The East coast moon may be full sometimes but it is not heavy. It only holds wonderment, what if’s and I can’t believe I did that’s…look who I just met and look what I’ve just experienced. I can’t wait to return to that moon and weight it down a bit!

But for tonight I smile at this moon, bursting with memories.

  1. What a great little story! You amaze me with the thoughts that you have and the way you are able to sort out all of those thoughts into a story! Should have been a writer💕
