Almost Got Distracted

The flight from Nassau to Miami was only 37 minutes. I Ubered to the Jeep, fired her up and off we went in search of our next adventure.

Traffic was terrible so my navigation rerouted me on some back roads. All of a sudden, I feel a sense of joy. After about 10 minutes, I realized, I was surrounded by farms, 4 Wheel drive trucks, horse ranches, and quads driving down the shoulder of the country road. The weather felt springlike, even smelled like home.

I started looking for a bar like the Loading Chute, Pozo Saloon or Longbranch. But then I decided not to look for familiarity and comfort. I have that at home. So I pushed on to the city.

I’ve lost track of days snd I guess it’s spring break. It’s off season for yachties so finding a place to stay was a bit of a challenge.

I believe things happen for a reason. The hotel that had one room left, has a bartender who…get this, lives in a tiny beach town up the coast. I associate miami with city. I’m so excited to find a village or small beach town, get a job and meet the locals..network and have what I had in my small hometown, but on the beach.

The guy sitting next to me owns a successful bar in Iowa and gave me his business card, should I need any advice. The bartender gave me her information as well.

Tomorrow I get situated in my crew house…meet my roommates, and network. Then I have time to travel around here in search of a small town! So excited

    1. Crew housing is cheaper than a hotel and I great way to Network for yacht jobs. Yachting is such a great way to live and earn money, so that’s my safety net should I not be able to secure a beach bar job and longer term housing. So I will utilize crew house as my home base, while I cruise the coastline for a town like Templeton on the beach.
