Just met with my boss face to face

I have no hard feelings so it was easy for me to be my normal smiling self. However when he tried to say that our downfall was that he befriended me and allowed me to stay in the guest quarters while no one was onboard, I had to speak up.

Our downfall was a bit of disrespect I felt when you placed me in a very unprofessional situation and demanded professionalism. It went right over his head and he started laughing about the details of the “situation” and returned to…we should not have bantered the way we did, you should have stayed in crew quarters, and none of this would have happened. So I continued smiling, engaging and laughing as we always do. He is my boss, and I will leave this situation respectfully and filled with 95% awesome memories and 5% WTF just happened.

I have not ruled out coming back to my GiGi and he is not hiring a replacement, because he hopes I change my mind.

He has hired someone to check on the boat and wash it weekly, if he goes out and needs help with lines he’ll have the dock hands do it

But..I’m interviewing a gal tomorrow who might fit the bill…TO BE CONTINUED

  1. Stacy I know this will not allow all the words I’d like to say, but what an opportunity you have had working for a guy who allowed you to be boson, 1st mate and captain all rolled into one. What an adventure. And he has been so graced by one who is honest, trustworthy, pliable, with a great sense of humor and has the highest work ethic he will ever have the pleasure to know. Sleep in crew bunk- he’s the boss. Gonna leave for Bahamas at 8:00- nope going to Bermuda the next day- he’s the boss. But here’s the line and it’s a line in the sand so deep that you could lose a truck. When he did not back you after your jewelry was stolen by someone he evident is protecting or at least partial to….. that’s the type of lesson in life you hold onto as a teachable moment. As Maya Angelou said, “Believe it the first time” the first time he hits you… believe it will happen again ( not saying he hit you, but you get the analogy) My advice, walk away and don’t look back. You are a good soul and deserve like treatment. You will succeed in anything and anywhere you go. Believe. And if you need back up… planes fly there right?

    1. Awe Sharon..your words have touched my heart. I appreciate the time you took out of your day to share this. Being out here all alone takes confidence, which I have. However when I make a decision, I do sometimes question whether it was based on emotion or logic. Sometimes it’s hard to distinguish. So it is SO helpful when a third person, without emotional involvement in the situation, speaks up to help reaffirm the decision was correct, or maybe should take more thought. Thank you for helping me not feel so alone, and for supporting me. I have the utmost respect for you and your whole family. I trust your words. Thank you!
