I think the year was 1991, my sister decided she wanted to host Thanksgiving, my mom always did Christmas. I wanted to host a party. So I decided to invite a few friends and my family over for a good dinner but the requirement was, you have to cut a snowflake. My brother, high school age was not excited and he said his friends won’t come.
There was a big UFC fight coming up, so I invited family and friends over for dinner and the fight. During the prelims, I turned the tv off and made everyone cut a snowflake. Once one snowflake was completed, it became a competition and everyone had fun joining in. Since then, I have done it every year and have never owned a big enough home to invite all of the people who I would want to.
After 29 years of snowflakes, there are a lot to hang. It gets harder and harder to keep them organized and safe. My daughter Jenna has done some pretty intricate ones. My dad’s tradition is boobs…yes he cuts a piece of paper into the shape of boobs. When hung, they just look like bathing suit tops, so it’s ok.
This weekend, would have been the annual snowflake party. I truly miss it and all of the work involved
We miss it too, and you!
