Middle Manning is hard

My boss tells me his wishes. I execute, by organizing the necessary techs to come aboard and complete each task. My boss gets in such a gosh darn hurry (for no reason) I understand rush situations, when there is a need. But when EVERYTHING is rush, NOTHING gets done right.

Yesterday, I’m supposed to meet with the diesel tech re: generator issues and engine leaks. I text the Sunseeker Rep and advise him to have tech give me ETA and text if he shows up while I’m at my Jeep licensing appointment.

I don’t get a text from anyone, I come back to the boat and wait around all day. Finally at 3:30 I text sunseeker he says oh he came early. You must have been in the shower. No one asked questions about what I need? Today I meet with Simrad tech who says we need a sea trial. I need to coordinate that with boss and Simrad. Boss says he’s available tomorrow. I text sunseeker coordinator that boss is available tomorrow. Sunseeker will contact Simrad to see if they’re available. Fiberglass guy comes. He says he’ll be here for sure in the morning to do repairs. I text boss and say fiberglass confirmed. I’ll postpone sea trial. Boss says no! Fiberglass repair can be done while at sea. Ummm what? Why? Simrad hasn’t even confirmed tomorrow, you’re going to show up here for a sea trial and expect the fiberglass guy to hang off the boat with power tools, while we are rockin and rollin at sea?

Oh ma gosh. 7 days a week is getting to me! I need Harvey snd Gila!

  1. Sounds pretty stressful! Good thing you can handle it! I would be freaking out and quit the whole mess. All I can say is he better appreciate you.

    1. He does. Although…I belong to a crew group on FB. It’s how I found this job. The title said 52ft Sunseeker based in North Miami looking for someone to run it full time. I commented. I’m on a 52ft sunseeker, is my job over? Everyone laughed
