Freedom

I moved from crew quarters to one of the guest rooms, per bosses orders. The guest room has a sunroof so I can look at the beautiful moon and stars. I woke up at 6:30am. So dark outside. All of a sudden a bright star appears. I thought, what the heck is that?

Then it started to move. I realized it was my neighbors running light. He was heading out to the big blue sea. I laid in bed and thought, wow, what freedom a boat gives you. You could wake up in the morning and say, I want to go to Italy today, or Africa or…anywhere. No plane tickets need to be purchased, no transportation to the airport. You just start your engines and head out. The world at your finger tips. Sounds appealing right? Then I considered what this small 52ft boat costs to simply maintain let alone fuel. She burns 50 gallons per hour! Some slip rentals are upwards of $1,000 per night. There is a cost for freedom in any capacity I guess.

This marina is beautiful but a ghost town. My boss text me this morning and asked how I was doing. I told him its too quiet. But there will be a wedding today, thats exciting. He said, put a pretty dress on and crash that thing! I laughed so hard, he and I really do think alike. I wonder which Julia Roberts dress I should get? HA HA

  1. Sorry it’s so quiet for you! Have you been to your next stop before? With this coronavirus and it getting cold most places won’t be very lively!

    1. I’m here for 2 weeks. Next stop is a marina right around the corner where the boat will be hoisted out of the water for a week. There they will do annual maintenance on the underneath. Oct 28ish Davar will come back and we’ll head to Florida. Not sure where we will stop on our way home. It was getting cold in Sag Harbor but here it’s average of 75
