My boss feels so bad

It’s for sure…captain Billy will be onboard Saturday night for early Sunday morning departure. I start preparing food to set out, so as my friends come in from the water or pass by on the dock. They can stop for a bite and a drink and say goodbye.

Appetizers in the oven, first guest is on the dock and here comes captain billy as planned. He steps onboard and says, I think I wanna leave now. My brain says “umm…what?” I have to fill the fresh water tank last minute, because of the leak, i want to make sure we are prepared properly for departure. But he’s the captain, I don’t question, I switch gears. As we wait for the fresh water tank to fill up I rush around to get everything else ready. He says we need fuel now, we can come back to dock for water. What a shit show. We undo all of the lines to go to fueling dock. It’s 5:20 they close at 5. We come back and redock in our spot. Then roll everything up and head out. My heart is breaking. I didn’t get to say goodbye to any of my dock family. We pass by Queen D. No one is even out on the dock, their owner is onboard so I can’t even wave. Garrett from Queen D gets up this morning, sees my boat is gone and sends this picture to me

The spot where I used to be

I cry…but put on my big girl pants and gear up for my first ever nighttime ocean travel. I obviously have questions. There are lobster traps everywhere. How will we see them? We won’t, we handle that if and when it happens.

When should I set my alarm for fueling. Nobody will be open till 8am. He says, we aren’t sleeping. So I get a blanket and lay on the couch and watch the city lights pass by, and the Statue of Liberty all lit up. It was beautiful. We drove all night and stopped for fuel at 8am. Then arrived here, in Ocean City about 3:00pm. My boss text me and asked if we’d left yet. I explained what the plan was. He says “I’m so sorry my love. When I pick you up at the end of October, we will travel more gracefully” I assured him. I am fine..I mean I’m tired. But I’m resting all day on the couch of a yacht. There are worse things. Now I’m showered and having dinner. Early to bed, I’m sure we’ll be leaving before sunrise
