As I was drying the boat this morning, my boss comes out and says I’ve rented you a bicycle, heres directions to the beach I want you to go to. There is a restaurant there. But I don’t want you to go to the other beach because I’m going to take you there tomorrow. I’m so appreciative, but starting to wonder why so much time off? Why so sweet and planning things for me? Is there a huge task coming up or is he just being kind?
We are in Nantucket and are at a mooring. So I finish chores and take water taxi to town and find my bicycle. The homes are gorgeous as I find my way to the beach. The restaurant is closed. But I go down anyway. I heard people were getting stung by jellyfish so I didn’t go in past my ankles, but it was clear and warm. After about an hour I’m hungry so I go back to my bike. The person next to me had accidentally looped his bike lock through my brake cable. So I now have to go back to the beach and find which person belongs to this bike. Process of elimination, people on bikes don’t have chairs, ice chests, umbrellas…so I ask people who have limited beach accessories. I find a family who did rent bikes and the son thought his was the color I described. So his dad came up to unlock it, but it wasn’t their bike. He was kind enough to take the brake cable off to free me from the other lock and I was on my way. I do some shopping have late lunch/early dinner and head back to the boat. My boss had a quiet relaxing day alone and I had an idea to take our beach chairs and sit on the swim platform. You are only inches off the water, the sun was setting, we drank wine and joked until bed time!

now that sounds like a pretty good day!
