In all of my travels, I haven’t really missed home while I’m away. But the first time I flew home from the yacht and saw familiar streets and buildings, I cried
Today, my last stop before my moms is Laughlin. It’s about 6-7 hours away from home and I’ve been here many times for different reasons. Sometimes to enjoy the casinos on the river, and sometimes to boat on the river and lake Havasu.
My journey from the West Coast to East Coast had been planned and mapped for months. I knew where I was stopping and what I’d be doing once I got there.
This trip, I drive til I’m tired, pick a hotel and stop. Several hotels have been in places where walking distance attractions are unavailable, so I just relax in the room
I was able to connect with my friend who lives in Knoxville and was also on a road trip. She coordinated so we met in the Bass Pro Shop in Memphis. My goodness! It looks like the Luxor in Vegas.
So nice to grab a quick hug from her!
Staying at the Marriott along the Arkansas river. Beautiful sculpture garden outside
Many of my friends have been to Nashville. They all rave about it, but their pictures look like they’re just sitting in bars. I’ve always felt, it’s a long way to travel, to just sit in a bar.
I finished laundry and cleaning my room around 10:30 am and left Anna Maria Island. Because I’m taking it easy on Jeeper, I didn’t arrive in Destin until around 7pm
Crashed at my vacationing friends place. I’ve been doing so much alone , that it was pleasantly odd to have someone to talk to while exploring.
Before finding my floatie I called McQueen!
We stayed at a hotel near Crab island. Highly recommend. Near all amenities and beach and crab island.
Funny..I plan on being back in California Tuesday and so do they.
I quietly left this morning Saturday to head to Nashville for my first time!
What a way to spend my last night in the place I’ve called home since last June. I love you Florida…I’ll be back
I got some news, that I’m needed at home. Gave my notice at work and with my landlord. They are both so sweet, trying to think of ways I can be helpful at home, but still keep my roots here
When I get the bartending position at work, I get so excited. On good days, I can bounce between the line at the register and guests sitting at the bar. I get to connect with so many people…I truly love it. I think I must have met the whole state of Ohio by now! Ha ha
Actually, I am very rich, in everything but money. Ha ha. On one of my flights when I was island hopping, I met a couple that had met a couple who did exactly what I’m doing. They built a beach bar with guest villas in the Bahamas.
I meet so many wonderful people when I bartend. We have time to chat and Ofcourse the conversation begins with where are you from? Then my story begins….every, and I mean every single person is so enthralled in my story and want to see it through. A couple I met a few days ago, asked for my information, because they have vowed to be my first customers at my Caribbean bar. they said “we will do whatever we can to make that happen” So sweet!
I super duper miss my Rylee and scott being here. I got off work yesterday and felt like I should be driving to their hotel so we could plan our day. But poor rylee is back in Montana…with the icicles.
My wingman Justin stopped by yesterday for a drink. Wingman Glenn is headed back home for the summer. It’s so funny how the popular time of year here is the winter.
I don’t have time to eat at work, so I always have the cook make me grilled chicken tacos for dinner. Today he said “get some dressing” I said why? For my tacos? I guess he thinks I need to eat a bit healthier
Rylee and Scott got here Wednesday. Thursday, we rented efoil boards. Totally cool it’s amazing propelling and hovering 2+ feet over the water
On Friday, I worked til noon and we met up with some friends for drinks had a yummy roof top dinner.
Saturday we rented a deck boat and cruised to the sandbar.
Then had dinner at the Ugly Grouper
The Bahama tiki beach bar I interviewed at last month, reached out yesterday. I told them I’ve found a place to learn the industry and live, but appreciated the contact.
