Made it back to Decatur Texas

Staying with a friend…I’ve been here twice..think I know where I’m going. Pull up to her house, garage is open, boxer puppy in the backyard, start unloading luggage. My friend calls, cause she thought we’d be there already. Rylee said we’re here, in the driveway, my friend said…Um, no, I’m in my driveway. Rylee says mom! This is not the right house! We start shoving luggage back in the Jeep before the owners come out wondering what the heck we are doing!

9 long hours in the Jeep

We are trying to make Destin Florida in time to enjoy weekend festivities. That means we have to travel 9 hour days. I’m more of a 5 hour kinda gal

California to Miami

Since I’ve done this before, I kinda know what to expect. I’m bringing my paddle board, Snorkel gear and alotta stuff I probably don’t need. The Jeep is packed to the roof!

Going Back to GiGi

My old boss called and said he has been saving my position for me. He wanted confirmation I would be returning to GiGi. Since I have been having no luck securing a yacht position in the Caribbean, I agreed. He is so excited to have me back. He sent $1,000 to help with the gas and hotels for my trip.

Gearing up to head back out.

I’ve been submitting resumes to several yachts based out of the Caribbean. Zero responses and I can only guess it’s because of my age. I am 30 years older than the typical people applying for this position. But I keep on trying. As we get closer to “the season” it might get easier. I’m in the talks with a yacht company in St croix..

To Gigi or not to Gigi

This photo was taken by my friend who was on Queen D in Sag Harbor. He sent this to me saying “where are you?” My yacht boss text me the other day and said “Gigi needs you. I haven’t hired anyone to replace you, and she needs you. Is there any way you could get to her anytime soon?” I laughed and said “my boss is leaving for a few weeks in September, I might be able to get a week off and come to her.” He sent me his credit card info and said book it!

I am missed on the East Coast

The guys that work on the dock took this picture and sent it to me, saying “we miss you Stacy”. Here you can see there are 4 people doing my job. One guy on each side of the boat and 2 guys on the dock to catch Gigi’s lines and tie her to the dock! Notice…the lines on the far poles? They were supposed to have already grabbed those and secured the front end. Ha Ha. Oh well…looks like Boss and kids and grandkids had a great day on the water. That’s all we can hope for. I do miss that place. That was home all last summer!

The California Moon

The moon tonight is heavy, not full. It holds my parents meeting in high school. This moon holds their marriage, the birth of me and my siblings. This California moon holds all of my high school river parties, first loves, first heart breaks, moments I will cherish.

Back to my roots

My part of California, allowed me to enjoy the triple digit mid day summers, which I could escape with a 20 minute drive to the coast. Or a 20 minute drive to our local lake Nacimiento, where people routinely drive 2+ hours to get to. Winters that made you appreciate spring, with a 3 hour drive to the nearest ski slope.

Back in California

So….I quit my job, on my white sandy beach, drove over 3,000 miles to be with my mom, and when I arrive at her house, what do I find? A note on the counter…”gone camping, be back Sunday, love you!”

I laughed out loud, then Saturday drove to the coast to visit with them and their best friends camping.

House hunt is back on, as the place I approved via text messages and photos is just too small. I met with a Captain of an event charter boat in Morro Bay. They are going through some transitions and sound very excited to welcome me aboard! We will meet again to crunch numbers to see if it’s feasible, if not, I am also meeting with my old dental office boss to see if it would make sense for the practice and for me to return.
