Another day of hard work

Woke up at 6:30…slight headache from my fun last night. Dried the yacht, secured everything and prepared to depart. Last night there was a squeaky noise coming from the engine room. It turns out our stabilizers have filters that need cleaning. So we had to shut them off. Parked at the dock that was fine…but in the open sea 🤢.

I don’t know what day it is

New neighbors

We leave wherever we were to wherever we are going…I actually get to drive the boat NOT ON AUTO PILOT I’m navigating through my compass to find the inlet Buoys..then my captain has faith in me and he says pick up the speed! Don’t have to ask me twice! I thought that was the fun part of the day. After my chores I go to find a restaurant

All Certified!

Finished school ahead of schedule. The gal that I became friends with my first day of school, was so excited that I already have a job, she did a Group FaceTime with the original 6 that started out together. Everyone is so genuinely happy for me its surreal. After school, I took the jeep to my new Bosses home, brought only the clothes I should need on a yacht and restaurants/bars/sight seeing. It’s Saturday and I’m on the AmTrack to Jacksonville Fl, then I’ll Uber 45 minutes back down to St. Augustine. I’m not sure how long I’ll be there, or where I’m going next! I just know I get to wake up on a beautiful yacht, with beautiful scenery around me, work hard, then play hard! Can’t wait to show you pictures of my new home. Some yacht owners are very private and would not want pictures shared…so we’ll see how he feels. He seems so cool, I think we are going to have a lot of fun!

What a whirlwind!

This is beautiful..not sure I’d want to live the corporate life you’d have to live on this vessel

So…so busy. Trying to complete my schooling, cancel my crew housing, try to catch up to my yacht in a place with no airport, train station, or car rental drop off. At school today it was a bit mundane. I mean I have owned a boat that goes 10X faster than the one I was driving today. I know the feel of what I want the boat to do when I’m docking. When you have someone saying, forward, neutral, turn portside, neutral…I almost said…Just point where ya want it! But I was a good girl and said “yes captain”. It was still amazing to finally get to the open water. We learned to create a navigational plan and follow a compass, and boy was it hard to not change my course when those 4 foot swells were coming. I had to alter my course in my boat with a 6 inch wake..HA HA. But this RIB could handle anything. Came home made all of my travel arrangements and will be on “my yacht” by 6pm Saturday. I’ll take plenty of pictures so you can see this beauty!

…and I have a job!

So when COVID happened, and postponed my travels, it threw a wrench in the timing of finding a job on a yacht, as it is hurricane season here now and most yachts have gone up to the Hamptons for milder weather or to the Bahamas and deal with the humidity. I still have a class to take tomorrow and Friday, but have submitted my resume to a few captains…

A Day of Relaxation

I am done with my STCW and PDSD courses…thank God! Now all I have to do is a physical tomorrow. Then I might look for some day work by dock walking. Which means I will walk the Ft. Lauderdale Marina and hand out resumes to Captains of Yachts. Day work might consist of staining teak wood, polishing metals, waxing painted parts or washing windows. All while looking at the above view! I’m starting to submit resume’s letting agencies know I will have my Power Boat license after Friday. I’m so glad I signed up for that course, as it appears to be a requirement in a lot of the jobs I’ve been looking at. Scheduled my first dental appointment for a cleaning. I have never…ever in my adult life had dental treatment outside of the office I was working in. This will be an interesting experience to see it from the outside in. Cheers Friends!
