Finished off the day with CBC Joey and dock hand James coming onboard for drinks. CBC Joey brought red wine. Delicious red wine. He said something hilarious and I spit red wine out of my mouth. We all freeze and look at my teak floor with red wine all over it

What a great weekend

My boss tells me…”I’m going to the city (NY) and my daughter and her husband are chartering the boat for the weekend. I ask (ummm whose the captain?) our neighbor Billy is going to Captain.

.aaand a perfect day

In talking to other Captains and crew, I’ve been told that the dew does NOT need to be dried off so early in the morning. If you get it by 10am the sun isn’t hot enough to dry the spots so you’ll be fine. I’ve been playing around with that a bit. So today I slept in til 6:30, I showered BEFORE work and even put a little makeup on. We were going to take a movie star we met at a restaurant out today so I wanted to be presentable. Did my morning chores. Boss went to play tennis…

No schedule no plan

One hard thing about yachting on a privately owned yacht that the owner lives on is never knowing what you’re doing and when your doing it.

Rainy Day Schedule

I guess there is a hurricane somewhere near us. So we have had heavy winds and it rained all day. Did as much as I could in the engine room waiting for people to wake up inside. Then cleaned the interior. Ran to South Hampton for groceries, and came back. I was pretty tired because I stayed out so late last night.

Meeting new people

2 weeks ago, I met Captain Russ at music in the park. We have stayed in touch. Today CBC Joey was helping me with my air conditioning unit. I hear a voice behind me that says “so…your boat is from Miami?” I turn around and say yes…then recognize the face. It’s Captain Russ. He invites me to dinner. I explain again, that I never know when my dinner time is, and when I get a dinner time, some times I’m so tired that showering and putting makeup on is out of the question.

I’m so excited!

Remember when I was in yacht school? And I’d mentioned a girl that I got close to. She and I both had anxiety during the fire portion. She just text me today, that she got a job and is headed to my marina! I’m beyond excited. After leaving California behind, Florida was my new beginning, friends became my new family. Heather is my only connection to my new life, and I left her in Florida. To know that I’ll have “family” here is so exciting. She is just as excited. She’ll be here Friday. I’ll be in Nantucket for the next few days then…can’t wait to give her a huge hug and show my little town, and introduce her to my new friends.

Starting to be skeptical

As I was drying the boat this morning, my boss comes out and says I’ve rented you a bicycle, heres directions to the beach I want you to go to. There is a restaurant there. But I don’t want you to go to the other beach because I’m going to take you there tomorrow. I’m so appreciative, but starting to wonder why so much time off? Why so sweet and planning things for me? Is there a huge task coming up or is he just being kind?

Nantucket

Didn’t get much sleep last night. We have a brand new boat, and my air conditioner has been out for a week. Because it’s an after market product and under warranty we have to get the company that installed it to work on it…then the generator won’t stay running. Again it has to be a Cummins mechanic or warranty voided. I’ve been sleeping with my door and windows open for cool air. So I get pretty good circulation. Last night the marina was full so we rented the fueling dock for the night which has no power. Boss thought he’d be fine with his portholes open. He got hot so he got up and started the generator. I’m smelling exhaust but too tired and lazy to get up.

And…I hope this lasts

Started the day at my normal time. Boss wanted to head out early. He loves having my help because we can arrive at our destination and have time to play. but what’s so cute is that he’s been where we are going, he’s seen it all, he wants me to see it. I finish all chores then drive the boat so he can enjoy his guest. He asks me “are you showering before you go out?” I say yes! I’m all sweaty. Well he’s used to his women guests taking 4+ hours to get ready. So he tells me to go shower. I go shower, makeup, get dressed and run upstairs so excited.
