Last leg of boat delivery

Pulled into coinjock marina. Front row dockage to the restaurant and bar that is world famous for its prime rib. As I toss our lines to the dock hands, one of them says “Lucy, you’re confusing me…really giving me mixed signals”. I look at him and wonder how he knows my nickname is Lucy. Then he says “do I need to relax, or help you organize this chaos?” Then I realized he was reading my shirt that says Lucy says relax, and my hat that says chaos controller. Ha ha. What a fun bunch.

Rinsed and dried GiGi then had a Yumalicious prime rib dinner. Came back and we watched a movie. Up at 5:45am to head to my home until the end of October.

Family is everything

Today is my 54 birthday. During my boat wash, I speak to each of my family members at home in California. I make plans to go to dinner with my dock family in Sag Harbor,NY. As I go about my day, I realize tonight is going to be like any other night. At the end of the day. I go to dinner with someone from my neighborhood. sometimes it’s one person. Sometimes it 6 people. So tonight will be no different. I share that with my oldest daughter, that without my family it’s just another day

Size matters

Worked on Queen D today. She needed a good wash…man that’s alotta boat to wash. I think I mentioned before, the cleats and lines were intimidating. Today I was able to get pictures of the differences in Queen D and Gigi

Had a great day working hard, came home because it was my night to host dinner in my neighborhood. Cooked and enjoyed Captain Tim, Captain Tommy and Captain Anna’s company.

So fitting

A little background on this story. I don’t like to share the spotlight on other people’s birthdays. (Like i somehow make their birthday about me. I’ve been known to steal the tiara or crown off of the birthday girl…or child…I don’t age discriminate. So in my home town if people see a crown they think of me. So it is fitting that my first yacht uniform says Queen and has a crown! When I went on board Queen D to actually work, I was so intimidated by the size of the lines, cleats and fenders. The fenders are bigger than me! I can’t wait to show you pictures of the difference in what I’m used to working with and these things. Today I woke up early to dry my boat, then helped Garrett on Queen D, then came back and almost finished waxing my GiGi. Looks like rain for the next 3 days, so once indoor chores are done it’ll be day drinking!

…and the hostess of the year award goes to…

Capt Russ, Garrett, Mary Beth Adrienne

I wanted to make sure and have Queen D Capt and crew over for dinner before I leave. Capt Russ said they have a few new crew members since I was last with them. As they are walking down the dock, I see a familiar face. Adrienne, first season below deck, chief stew. They come aboard as well as neighbors Capt Tommy and Capt John.

Another hard balance

When I was working 15+ hours a day, I was looking for balance. Now the weather is SO cold the wind is frigid and I just can’t do a lot of my outside chores. I feel bad, I feel I’m not earning my keep. I stay busy but feel unproductive. I need balance. I share this with people walking by..those same people were the ones saying “you work to hard, too many hours…” so those same people are saying…you deserve this..enjoy the bad weather…take a few hours off”. I haven’t been able to until I realized I’m headed to warmer weather in 4 days…I can be super productive then.

New neighbors

So as I helped captain Harvey and chef Gila on their way out of sag harbor, hoping to see them again soon. I see the new yacht taking their place. I’m waxing my boat, blaring my throwback playlist for everyone to enjoy while working on their own yachts. Ofcourse everyone stops what they’re doing to nonchalantly observe a captain maneuvering a large vessel into its new home. This captain had a deckhand with headphones on…high tech for me. My boss just yells STACY! When he needs me. They pull in flawlessly and quietly settle in. I feel like I may need to turn my music down as they are professional yachties…
