Back to reality

First day home, I spend 5 hours washing/drying GiGi. Get groceries, the Jeep is good. Start on a few projects and I’m tired. Getting ready to plan my week. Text the boss. Any plans to head out this week? I need to schedule the rest of the repairs. I need to know which day is not available to schedule. He responds “probably”.

Oh my life. So I get up Monday morning. We had rain last night so the boat is very wet. About half way through drying her, boss texts and says “we are taking her out today at 12:30”

So I start watching the clock as I have a lot to do to get the boat ready for an outing by 12:30. Then I get a text “make sure we have a cheese plate and snacks for the grandkids”

Now I’m in panic mode. Then I get another text “we’ll also need sandwiches for lunch”. OMG!

Luckily they showed up late and I had everything ready…including…not my job..stewardess items

We had a beautiful day on the water, it was warm, a bit windy, but we got home, I had the exterior and interior cleaned, and watching a movie by 6:30!

Back to work

I’ve been in dentistry for 35 years. It is typical in the industry to close between Christmas and New Year. so I’d always have between 11-14 days off. I now work 7 days a week snd had 7 days off. When I returned, my poor GiGi was a mess. Whoever put her away….well the power cord was submerged in the water, the lines were tied wrong, someone left the upstairs refrigerator open and now it’s filled with dust sediment because our neighbors are sanding their teak.

Dirty dishes snd food in the sink and nothing is covered. WELCOME HOME. So I smile snd look at the bright side. Job security .,,someone’s gotta take care of her…and that someone is me.

Got everything cleaned up. Around 4pm I text my boss. “I’m gonna regroup and get on top of repairs and scheduling what still needs to be done. are there any days this week you plan on taking the boat out…so I don’t schedule techs to come on that day? His response 5 hours ago…probably.

Oh my life!

Learning under panic attack is hard

So…remember when I said this week was gonna be tough because boss didn’t go to Caribbean? I woke up at 7am, had my coffee, showered and got ready for my day. At 9am my boss texts me and says “we’re going out, departing at 11am” I reply okie dokie, how much water do you want in our broken tank?”

My boss cracks me up

We had planned on him coming aboard today so he could drive the boat for a sea trial to fix me pushing the wrong button on our Simrad computer. He was supposed to be leaving tomorrow for the Caribbean on a flight with his family. Because he was going to be gone, I was going to fly to South Carolina for the weekend to visit my friends Steve and Denise.

Funny how we can miss something that was a chore

Preparing for annual snowflake party

I think the year was 1991, my sister decided she wanted to host Thanksgiving, my mom always did Christmas. I wanted to host a party. So I decided to invite a few friends and my family over for a good dinner but the requirement was, you have to cut a snowflake. My brother, high school age was not excited and he said his friends won’t come.

Lunch with one of my first friends here

Remember Heather? My classmate at deckhand school. We haven’t seen each other in 6 months. Had so many stories to share of our yachting experiences. It really is a whole “nuther” world. We have so much fun together. She’s already got plans for us to go paddle boarding and possibly New Year’s Eve!

After lunch, I went to a boutique where my daughters swimsuit line is being sold. It was so amazing to see my little girl’s suits, that she hand made in California, on a store rack in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. When I posted a picture on Facebook, I had several inquires. So if anyone reading this blog is interested in Custom made, fully reversible (get 2 suits in 1) look her up at boonesbikinis.com

Spent some time checking out beaches close to where I live. There are several. I’m so happy being near this water

Taking care ah both my girls is trying

Gave GiGi her weekly bath today. Kept wondering why no techs had checked in, boats are gone in the marina…boss calls. He’s going back up to palm beach for the weekend. He says go enjoy the beach, enjoy miami…I’m like sure! I have a 4 bedroom boat to take care of and my weathered neglected baby…but I’ll get right on the beach! then he reminds me it’s Saturday. That’s why no techs…
