Next Chapter is Planned

Since giving my 2 weeks notice I’ve started to prepare for my transition. Boss comes back to Miami on Saturday, I think. I’ll need to return the items he asked me to remove from his house while the thief/guest was staying there. I’ll make arrangements for SAFE parking for the Jeep. I will fly to St. Thomas on Monday.

Before I secure housing, I want to check out an island called Jost Van Dyke. It’s a short ferry ride from St. Thomas. It has a nice marina where I’m sure I can get day work and it has several beach bars I can also apply to.

This is so surreal, to be able to just think about what I want to do and plan it! I’m so freakin excited!

A little wind down time

I’m so happy. Many times, when I have time to just sit on the boat and relax, I find myself looking at details, spots I may have missed, something that needs to be done. Today, I finished the whole hand polish of the fiberglass. The chrome is sparkling. I worked about 4 hours this morning, sat down and even my tiny chrome light covers are spotless.

A taste of reality

My boss hasn’t lived on the boat full time in 6 months. He’s not supposed to move back in for another 3 1/2 months. He brought one of our original guests, who moves in like she just lost her apartment and has nowhere to store anything. I love her…but, when your coming for a day…bring a bathing suit and toiletries. Not your toaster, fur coat, library, cat, and your whole dress/shoe closet. It took 2 trips from her car to the boat and her car was still full.

To go, or not to go, ha ha

I woke up this morning thinking we were headed to the Bahamas. Boss changed his mind again. He now wants to stay in this beautiful spot another evening. We enjoy the day with good conversation, food and wine. Head back to the marina in the morning.

Today will be a long work day. Boat has been salty for 3 days, we’ve been anchored in grassy water, so all strainers that were being used, sucked up plenty of grass. That means opening each of them up, which causes sea water to flow into the bilge, cleaning them, closing them up, and then cleaning each bilge. As well as a 5 hour bath.

But I’m not complaining as I had a few hours in the middle of each day at anchor, to enjoy life.

…Fluidity is my middle name

The Bahamas has been on my bosses mind. I did a Covid test…we didn’t go…I did a Covid test yesterday because he wants to go now. I provisioned the boat (5 different stores) to satisfy his needs for the next 5 days. And this morning he decides NOT to go.

Then he decides to go to the keys, then he decides to go to the Bahamas…I smile and say, I go where my home goes.
