One year later

It blows my mind that one year ago today was my last day at my desk. One year ago I began my journey, and reading through these blogs, I feel so very blessed to have seen the places I’ve seen, to gain yacht knowledge, to begin my Island travels, and the friends I’ve made along the way.

So very excited to see where this next year leads me!

Many Miles the last few days

Ofcourse the weather is gorgeous so I take the windows off the Jeep. I head across Florida through the Everglades. I saw more crocodiles along the road, than I did when I did an actual Everglades air boat tour. Some were sunbathing in peoples front yards!

Just passed that, there are signs warning of Panther crossing, beware! Then the next sign I see says picnicking and camping next. Umm what? No thank you. Pull over to have a snack and become a snack.

A long day of driving

Left the crew house bright and early. Washed the salt air off the jeeper and headed up the coast toward the small towns the hotel bartender told me about the other night. I tried to stay on the coast as much as possible. It was a beautiful drive

On one side you have the gorgeous turquoise ocean and the other is the ICW. Both lined with multi million dollar homes. It was nice having the ICW to see once in a while. That is what is familiar to me as that was our choice of travel when we’d have outings on GiGi. I would see it and think “ok…that’s where I’m at”

Almost Got Distracted

The flight from Nassau to Miami was only 37 minutes. I Ubered to the Jeep, fired her up and off we went in search of our next adventure.

Traffic was terrible so my navigation rerouted me on some back roads. All of a sudden, I feel a sense of joy. After about 10 minutes, I realized, I was surrounded by farms, 4 Wheel drive trucks, horse ranches, and quads driving down the shoulder of the country road. The weather felt springlike, even smelled like home.

What are the freakin Odds

When my niece Summer found out a few years ago that I was going to travel the islands, she said “oh you have to meet my uncle. He lives on a boat in the Caribbean, he might have great information for you”

When I decided to leave the Bahamas and go to St Maarten, my mom text me not to forget Summer’s uncle, he lives on St Maarten and she gave me his number.

It takes a village

On this journey, I have had so much support, concern and advice that has made things so much easier. For instance…my flight dilemma, when I was forced to book a flight, a reader messaged me and said “simply cancel the unwanted flight…24 hours no cancellation fee.. I didn’t even think about that! Cancelled it no problem, no fee.
