Woke up at 6:30…slight headache from my fun last night. Dried the yacht, secured everything and prepared to depart. Last night there was a squeaky noise coming from the engine room. It turns out our stabilizers have filters that need cleaning. So we had to shut them off. Parked at the dock that was fine…butContinue reading “Another day of hard work”

I don’t know what day it is
We leave wherever we were to wherever we are going…I actually get to drive the boat NOT ON AUTO PILOT I’m navigating through my compass to find the inlet Buoys..then my captain has faith in me and he says pick up the speed! Don’t have to ask me twice! I thought that was the funContinue reading “I don’t know what day it is”
Losing track of days
So…i joined the yacht on Saturday in St. Augustine. I was there for 2 days and the 3rd day we were off to our next destination.
Yacht Life
Woke up at 6:30 a.m. so that i could impress my boss with drying off the yacht before he awoke. He came out and said good morning…I got up early to show you how to prep the yacht for the day. First of all, we don’t use our beach towels to dry the boat… HaContinue reading “Yacht Life”

Everyone is so genuinely happy for me its surreal. After school, I took the jeep toContinue reading “All Certified!”
What a whirlwind!

I still have a classContinue reading “…and I have a job!”
A Day of Relaxation
I am done with my STCW and PDSD courses…thank God! Now all I have to do is a physical tomorrow. Then I might look for some day work by dock walking. Which means I will walk the Ft. Lauderdale Marina and hand out resumes to Captains of Yachts. Day work might consist of staining teakContinue reading “A Day of Relaxation”
The most grueling Day
So today we applied what we learned in class yesterday. We are outside. It’s hot, the humidity is making me sweat profusely in my street clothes. It is now time to put the Fire pants, Boots, thermal hood, mask, helmet, oxygen tanks and gloves on.
Fire Fighting
Well it turns out, firefighters are more than a group of good looking men, that I would call to my dental office in the slightest emergency, just to look at them. We took fire prevention today and learned the chemistry behind what can cause a fire and the components to fight each different fire.
