First interview

I’ve submitted about 20 resumes with no response. As I’ve said before, I’m too old for the age bracket of job I’m applying for. Deckhands are in their 20’s. Good news is…I went through my Captains hours log, and I have more than enough hours to get my captains license.

Then I’ll be in a more appropriate age bracket for a job. But for now, I need cash flow to pay my bills so I’ll keep plugging along. I did however, have my first FaceTime interview yesterday. Lovely retired couple with 3 grown daughters with children of their own. Great sense of humor. The interview lasted a whole hour and it sounded like I had the job if I wanted it.

They were requiring a deckhand, a stew and a chef. Combined, those 3 positions would cost them upwards of $12,000 a month. They want all of that in one person. I know a lot of owners are looking to save a buck and trying to hire less crew to do more work. But I know my worth. And the boat is bigger than GiGi. I told them what I needed to have it make sense. (Which was actually lower than colleagues recommended) They said it was totally outside of their budget.

The captain emailed me and said, they were very impressed with your knowledge, personality, and work ethic, but it’s just not affordable. I replied no worries! All the best!

Something will come a long that will be perfect! Until then, cheers!
