Switch gears…when owner is on board.

I’ve gotten into such a routine being on the boat alone. I can switch gears and change plans when he notifies me guests will be arriving and we are taking the boat out…

But when he lives onboard EVERYTHING is important and must be done now, unless something else becomes more important. Ha ha. We either had rain last night, or just a heavy dew, so it is very important for me to dry the boat, as you all know. My boss stayed the night last night and informed me this morning we are going out again, with more guests. He says I need my newspaper, so stop dilly dallying with the boat, and go do that, so I can have it with my coffee. He takes my chamois and halfway finishes drying while I get provisions for the day.

Get everything lined up and head out. It’s a beautiful day, water is clear with 20 feet visibility. We thoroughly enjoy the day, I drive us home. He says “are you going to dock her this time?” I smile and confidently say yes!

We get to our lake where I have wide open space. I maneuver the boat to make sure I’m in control of where I want her. Wind is light , current isn’t pushing me. I pull up to the fuel dock of our marina. He says, now don’t dock her, hold her 4ft off the dock in a straight line. So I do, simple…he laughs and says you’re cheating, the gods are in your favor, you didn’t even have to try! Ha ha he took over and parked her. But I’m getting closer to learning and achieving one more goal! I start to rinse and dry her…switch gears, now I’m not finishing that, and I’m driving he and the guests to get chicken wings. I haven’t been in my “grocery getter” BMW since Sag Harbor!

Was going to wash her today, but instead I’m preparing her for a Bahamas trip tomorrow!
