We had planned on him coming aboard today so he could drive the boat for a sea trial to fix me pushing the wrong button on our Simrad computer. He was supposed to be leaving tomorrow for the Caribbean on a flight with his family. Because he was going to be gone, I was going to fly to South Carolina for the weekend to visit my friends Steve and Denise.
With all of the techs, coming and going I’ve been waiting until the last moment to book my flight. Thank goodness. Boss came aboard, informed me he cancelled his Caribbean trip as well as his New Years trip.
The Simrad tech shows up early, boss gets here and immediately starts in bantering with me. I instantly have a smile. I like him being off the boat. Because I have my own schedule. So when he’s coming back onboard, I kinda feel like..ugh…so much work. But the laughter and the silliness that ensues entertains everyone, even the Simrad tech.
We finish the sea trial, the tech leaves and my boss gets ready for a date. I tell him what to wear, we have a glass of wine, and he’s VERY inquisitive on who I’ve met, and what part they play in my life. He sums up that I’ve had options presented and I’m hesitant. He says you are sweet on your GiGi and he fist bumps me. like a little kid. I smile and say yes….I’m liking where I’m at.
He likes how I care for GiGi and I like this part of my job. Getting paid to work in beautiful places for 3 hours then have the day to myself. Although…I was planning on the beach the next 3 days, but now that he’s home, we may end up in the Bahamas!
