I’ve learned a lot today from my boss and other captains who have had issues at sea. Changed the fuel filter myself. Didn’t help, wasn’t the issue. We figured out (with Capt Billy’s help) our transmission isn’t responding when we engage it. It’s amazing what captains do at sea to limp to the next port. They all have so much knowledge gained by experiences they’ve had.
So with all of the information at hand and nothing working. We decide to find our way to the nearest ICW inlet to find a Volvo diesel repair marina

The poor guy (tech) already has a full schedule but squeezed us in. My boss looks at this marina and decides it’s unacceptable to stay more than one night. He is researching hotel/marina/resorts in Myrtle beach.
Tech comes. Does what he can, and needs a computer to read our code. He’ll return in the morning here, or in the afternoon at the resort.
Boss treats me to dinner. We laugh so much. Talking about relationships. He expects the complete opposite of what I offer in a relationship. So we spend all night trying to show the other how to see the other’s side. The more we drink. The more he shakes his head at my “blonde ideals”. I’ve never heard a man say “what?” So many times in a night.
We come home. Agree to disagree and continue arguing tomorrow….at the resort. AND I’m ok with that
