Emotional Day

We got so close, she was looking right at me

As my boss has made this trip several years, around the same time every year he mentions to me that at 9am, I’m going to get to see the Statue of Liberty up close and personal. I almost couldn’t stay focused on my morning chores. I wanted to absorb the moment, feel what people felt when they arrived on boats hundreds of years ago. I am a proud American Citizen. I’m proud of what she and this country and our flag represent. I know there are many immigrants who also respect her ,our flag and our country. And when I saw her for the first time I felt connected to all of those people who she stands for. I cried. I felt silly In front of my boss. But he to felt it. He stood and faced her and said thank you! And he meant it from his heart.

And then the towers

I had to stop recording after I saw for the first time where the towers used to stand. My boss saw the emotion in me and slowed the boat down to almost an idle. He let me soak in the moment for a good 30 minutes before we resumed normal speed and returned to chores.

Now we are one stop from our destination for the summer! So excited cause my daily routine will get easier and I can do the things I want to do to maintain my GiGi that got me here safely

  1. What an awesome day you had! I can only imagine how emotional it was. Im so glad he put the yacht in idle so that you got to see and remember where the towers stood.❤🇺🇸
