…and a little kindness goes a long way

Boss wanted to head out early again. Seemed a bit short that I wasn’t up earlier and ready. My thoughts…I’ll get up as early as I need…just let me know the plan…we head out I do my usual. Seas are calm and we have an all Dayer ahead of us, so I start polishing chrome. He tells me to go rest because we’ll stop for lunch at noon and you’re at the helm after that. I’m thinking I am not a napper, how am I going to change my lifestyle to learn these new hours? But I go sit on the back of the boat where the noise and ticking motion have proven to help me nap. Like 30 seconds later..,ok 2 hours later he wakes me up and says your turn. I set my coordinates and am flying free…then the weather started getting rough, my tiny ship was tossed…did anyone start singing giligans island? Ha ha. Boss was napping so I put my boating skills to work. I’m on the top deck getting splashed

In my race boat, if you’re getting splashed you need to raise the bow, get more of your boat out of the water. I have trim buttons but no indicator as to where I’m at. So I trim to raise the bow with one click. How much is one click? Slight difference, i adjust that a few more times it gets better, seas are getting worse, I’m getting splashed more frequently, adjust the trim more, now we are hitting hard, slow my speed, improved but it is what it is. I could go downstairs and drive from there, but I know inside I’d get sea sick. So I stay where I am, trying to hit the waves in a gentle way. My boss comes up and says this is too bad go downstairs. So I go to my couch outside and he gets us to a safe marina. I’m dripping sea water so I shower before helping my Gigi. Then what do you know? My boss is out helping me, we finish at 8 and eat together on the boat and listen to music and drink. I FaceTime my momma and it’s a wonderful night’
